What are the real estate requirements?
Typical locations are near residential areas, commercial centers, and athletic facilities. The typical Strickland’s location has 1,200 – 1,500 square feet. In-line commercial real estate locations and specially constructed stand-alone out lots have both been used as Strickland’s locations. Rent is estimated to be $23,000 to $60,000 per year, depending on factors such as size, type, condition and location of the leased premises. The estimated figures for real estate and improvements assume a rented location, build out costs of $60,000 - $95,000, and three months rent payments.
What is the royalty fee?
The royalty fee is an on-going payment that you make to us, for the duration of your Strickland’s Frozen Custard franchise. Our royalty fee is 6% of total gross sales (not including sales tax). This fee pays for your continuing right to use the Strickland’s name, proprietary equipment, and methods at your location. All of our franchisees pay the same fee.
How long does it take to open a Strickland's franchise?
Opening day can usually be within four to six months from the date you sign the Unit Franchise Agreement. There are many variables that affect the opening, such as obtaining building permits, passing inspections, and securing a vendor’s license. We can assist you in navigating the process of opening your Strickland’s location.
What training will I receive?
We conduct an intensive, two-week training session at our Akron, Ohio headquarters. You will gain both classroom and in-store experience, covering all aspects of operating a Strickland’s franchise. In addition, we will provide you with a comprehensive Operations Manual, giving you detailed information about opening and managing your location. We are also working on training videotapes that will be provided to you, in order to reinforce your own training, and also to help you train your employees in our methods.
What other assistance is provided?
During your opening week, we will have a Strickland’s trainer at your stand a minimum of 50 hours, in order to help you with your grand opening. The trainer will help train new employees, assist you with opening, closing, and management procedures, and serve as an all-around resource to you, as you begin your career as part of the Strickland’s family. We are also available by telephone, to provide you with guidance as issues arise in your franchise. Should you require additional assistance, we have low-cost methods of providing assistance to you at your location.
What does a Strickland’s Frozen Custard franchise cost?
The costs of a Strickland’s franchise depend on many variables. Further details and estimations are contained in our Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD), which you will be provided with if you request more information and if we determine that we can offer you a franchise at that time.
