Why deliciously different?
One of the factors that makes Strickland's so unique is the specialized ice cream batch freezers we use. The machines in the original Strickland's location were hand-built in the 1930s, and represent true ingenuity and an appreciation for the fine points of making ice cream. The machines freeze the ice cream very quickly, which promotes a smoother, creamier taste. There is almost no air introduced to the product as in other ice creams.
For years, addition stores were not an option for Strickland's, as these unique machines were not commercially available, and the Strickland-Margroff family could not find a commercially available unit that produced the great taste Strickland's patrons have grown to love and expect. However, in 2002, the machines were successfully reverse-engineered. For the first time in its history, Strickland's was able to more forward with expansion.
Strickland's of Fort Mill was opened in 2007 giving customers an opportunity to enjoy its frozen custard as it was when the first Strickland's opened in 1936.
